This morning farmer Duncan came in and unfortunately established the sad news that eggs 7 and 8 were fully formed, but around the wrong way and had died in their shells. Awh. The good news is the other new born chicks are all full of life and had their first drink and snack just a little while ago. Check out the chicks over the weekend! Thanks for watching!

Yeay! We’ll have betting up soon on which is the last egg to hatch. Later on today, or maybe tomorrow, we’ll move them all to their new home which has sawdust and food in it! Yeay!

Egg 6’s hairline cracks haven’t gotten any bigger. We’re off now to have a nice kip before all the chicks crack open tomorrow!

Both of the little pluckers are pretty wrecked and keep falling asleep. There stomach forms around the yolk or something like that so they can survive for 72 hours with no food or water, so we’re going to wait till all the eggs are hatched then move them in to their new home for a snack and a drink.

The cute little fecker!! He was a good 36 hours early, clearly a star in the making. He’s all lonely by himself, looks like Egg 1 might be next. What should we call him?!

This involved turning off the thingy that rotates the eggs (they are now in the positions they will hatch in), adding water (to make the incubator even MORE humid) and lowering the heat to 37.0 degrees Celsius (they’ve been living at a balmy 37.7 for the past 19 days)
We did all this (well actually we’re currently waiting for the temperature to hit 37 again) and then I went to check to see if they eggs were visible on the web cam, and they weren’t, so I went to move one, and I moved it, and it chirped. (It was egg 7)

All fierce exciting! There are real live chickens just waiting to get out!! Due to hatch Friday, but it could be Thursday, check back here soon!!
